I haven't experienced shit splints in a while, but I did have a tibial stress fracture so it's a problem area. I have incorporated some shin exercises, and will probably incorporate more after looking up 'tibialis posterior tendon'.

What you describe does sound a lot like the pain I'm feeling. At least I'm on the right track with strengthening surrounding areas.

Thanks for commenting!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17361819186011561670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1060755630800309245.post-80639632020710927212012-04-04T13:54:04.716-04:002012-04-04T13:54:04.716-04:00Do you have orthotics? They would possibly help with your foot strike and knee rotating inwards.

With regards to the pain it sounds like it could be to do with the tibialis posterior tendon. That inserts into the navicular and if your feet are over pronating when you are running could explain the pain. Do you ever get shin splints? Some exercises to help strengthen tib post would definitely help.

I'm about a month away from qualifying as a podiatrist and I've had a similar sounding pain myself and that's what has worked for me and my patients.

It's not in a common place for a stress fracture (although that doesn't mean never), so I wouldn't be too worried about it being that. Although 'diagnosing' someone over the internet is probably just as bad as self diagnosing.Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15170673021638252720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1060755630800309245.post-28035355894040652552012-04-02T09:25:15.101-04:002012-04-02T09:25:15.101-04:00Ugh, Joanne. I've had one before (tibia), so I really do not want to go through another one. I'm keeping my eye on this.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17361819186011561670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1060755630800309245.post-13372798974313986242012-04-02T08:45:17.385-04:002012-04-02T08:45:17.385-04:00Running while sick is the WORST!! Rockstar 11 mile run, by the way!

I would also maybe worry a bit that the pain in your foot is a stress fracture (just cause it hurts when you press on the bone). (I'm also just a stress fracture-prone neurotic person, so that's the first thing i think of. always.) Just be careful!Joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17133232352924060797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1060755630800309245.post-10614799699973060152012-04-01T19:21:02.273-04:002012-04-01T19:21:02.273-04:00I'm going to start charging for my Google sear...I'm going to start charging for my Google search diagnoses.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17361819186011561670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1060755630800309245.post-79430432996678379352012-04-01T18:58:51.015-04:002012-04-01T18:58:51.015-04:00Doctors like it when patients self-diagnose.Doctors like it when patients self-diagnose.The Joggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02830192772181847614noreply@blogger.com
